All paints aren't created equal

There are many things that need to be factored in when choosing paint for your project. We will consider a few here but to best address your specific needs we recommend speaking with one of our experienced estimators. Call to schedule your free estimate.

Paint based on where you’re painting

When you’re ready to paint there are some things you need to take into consideration. The simplest is whether you will be painting the interior or exterior of your home. Next look at the type of surface and its condition. Is it stucco that has a few cracks that need to be fixed? Is it a child’s room with a few marks? Lastly what type of paint was used prior, if any. All of these factors dictate what exactly you will need from your paint.

Price

One of the most important aspects of painting your home is the cost. Many see a lower price tag on a can of paint and choose that solely on the fact that it will save them a little more money. But is it saving you more in the long run? Especially when you see a well-recognized and advertised brand it seems like a no brainer decision, cheaper paint plus well-known manufacture equals great paint choice, right? Not necessarily, both cheap and expensive paint will go on the same thickness when wet, but after it dries you will see a noticeable difference in coverage. The more expensive paint will usually cover more with less coats, which means less time spent, less gallons needed, and less time until you get your home back to normal.

Longevity and Durability

Another thing most people don’t consider after getting that fresh coat of paint, is how long until you have to repaint? That one time price of paint can add years to the life of your paint project. Which means facing the same project in a year or several years. In addition most high priced paint options have additives that minimize mildew and help the paint adhere to the surface better, which decreases the chance of fading in the long run.

As we’ve seen all paint is not created equal many factors will determine which paint best suites your needs. Here at Century Painting we want to help you choose the right paint for your project, so give us a call and we can set up an estimate at a convenient time for you.
